We are a Stewardship Parish!
Some may think that stewardship is simply a gimmick for raising more money for the Church. This is not so. Jesus was clear about how he wanted us to live: to become involved with others and share with them what we have, not only our treasure, but our time and talent as well. Stewardship is based, then, on God’s Word, and not the fundraising needs of the Church. As the pastoral letter Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response (1992) states:
A Christian steward is one who shares God’s gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with others, and
returns them with increase to the Lord.
Jesus was a person of faith and action and we are called to be the same. We believe God does not hold back on his gifts to us - and neither should we! A warm thank-you, then, to all our parishioners who have given generously of their time and talent to our parish as liturgical ministers, social ministry volunteers, and committee members.
Please prayerfully consider joining their ranks and returning to the Lord and to St. Mary’s what has been so freely given to you. |
