Respect Life / Pro-Life

As often as you did it for one of my least ones, you did it for me. 25:401

The environment speaks a common voice of death to relieve a mother of an unwanted baby and death to relieve misery for the elderly. Parishioners will see another environment that says NO. They must see a body of lay people stand up to say that life is sacred, gathering for prayer and they must see people like themselves who understand they are all made in the image of God and that God is Love. Many are honored if they were asked by their Pastor to relieve him of small parish responsibilities.

At St. Mary’s Parish, we are building an apostolate of the Culture of Life through the Intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Unborn and the Americas, to: (1) to embrace daily prayer, (2) to reach the hearts and minds of massive numbers of Catholics, and (3) to enlist great numbers to pro-life action.

Working with our Franciscan Friars, a dedicated group of volunteers joins us to spiritually and physically assure the faithful of a Respect Life prayer in the daily Prayers of the faithful, schedule Holy Hours for LIFE, plan Respect Life parish campaigns, and places information and announcement(s) in each week’s bulletin. This committee also distributes Respect Life educational and informational material that is approved by the Pastor and maintains this material in the parish pamphlet racks.

We encourage volunteers to join and manage the Parish Phone Tree. Through this we can notify parishioners on our list about Action Alerts concerning legislative bills currently needing urgent phone calls or e-mails to Legislators, Senators, Congressmen and other elected officials in Tallahassee and Washington regarding LIFE and social outreach issues. Also, web sites are available.

The committee meets with the Pastor to plan a yearly campaign of spiritual, as well as physical activities, which will benefit the parishioners, as well as pregnancy care centers and social outreach. To join our Phone Tree or for other information, please call: Elaine Clark at (727) 520-9154.
