CATHOLIC CAMPUS MINISTRY At USF, ST. PETERSBURG
We are a community of believers on the USF St. Petersburg Campus devoted to
ministering to all people regardless of their religious affiliation or lack
thereof. We welcome everyone to join us no matter who and what you are. As a
Faith Community, we come together to pray, to study and to play. We subscribe to
the total person concept.
We come together to Pray: Prayer is the bedrock upon which our ministry on this
campus is based. We pray together in community, especially at Mass. We pray in
solitude, one on one with the Lord.
We come together to Study: We promote Bible study, instructional homilies and
studies in Church doctrine.
We come together to Play: We have a variety of social activities including
parties and barbecue events.
Our goal is to give all of us the opportunity to know each other better as
members of the same Family. By loving one another as Jesus loves us, we help
each other to come closer to the Lord, Who is our Brother.
Father Mario Di Lella, O.F.M. is the official Campus Minister. Father Mario is a
Franciscan Priest who served the Catholic Community at Georgia Tech in Atlanta,
Georgia for 38 years.
We meet in Room 133 in Campus Activity Center (CAC) at 7:00 PM
on Thursdays. We welcome everyone regardless of their religious affiliation or
lack thereof. And, we mean it! Come yourself. Bring your friends to meet us.
WOMAN'S CLUB
This organization is affiliated with the National Catholic Women’s Organization and the diocesan Lower Deanery. We meet monthly during the winter and spring seasons. Our goal and purpose is based upon our response to our parish’s needs. All women of the parish are encouraged to join this spiritual and service group.
Please contact the Parish Office for more information.
LEGION
OF MARY
• Do you want to learn more about the Catholic faith?
• Do you want to enrich your prayer life?
• Do you want to develop close Catholic friendships?
• Do you want to grow closer to Jesus and His Mother?
What is it the Legion of Mary?
The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church, with well over 3 million active members in almost every country in the world. It has been active in the United States since 1931, has been approved by the last six Popes and was endorsed by the Second Vatican Council. The main purpose of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members.
What does it do?
Members become instruments of the Holy Spirit through a balanced program of prayer and service. Works include door-to-door evangelization, parishioner visitation, prison ministry, visitation of the sick or the aged, crowd contact, religious education, visiting the newly baptized, Pilgrim Virgin statue rotations, and meeting the other spiritual needs of the parish community. Legionaries are under the guidance of a spiritual director named by the pastor. The Legion is, in essence, an extension of the heart and hands of the pastor.
How does it work?
Members meet once a week for prayer, planning and discussion in a family setting. Then they do two hours of definite work each week in pairs and under the guidance Join us at our next meeting!
